Remedies for skin problems in babies

Newborn skin is sensitive that is why they have low immunity in the skin. There is a greater chance to develop allergies with the use of chemicals, fragrances, and color in clothing, detergents, and the use of some baby products that can yield newborn skin exasperation, exsiccation, chafing, and rashes. Newborn's skin is not just soft but sensitive too. During the development phase of a baby, parents are likely to lose their sleep if they notice some spots on your baby’s face. 

80% of facial spots on the baby’s skin are harmless and tidy up gradually without the need for treatment. 20%, some rashes don’t clean up automatically. Parents may need to use some home remedies as a treatment. The use of chemical-based medicines on your baby’s face to address the spots may not be the ideal solution, hence, you need to try home remedies using the natural ingredients. These remedies are the most successful and safe.

1.Breast Milk
Breast milk is the best nutritional source. Breast milk digest and doctors suggest up to the age of six months only give breastmilk to newborns as it provides the perfect balance of protein, fat, carbohydrates, and nutrients to assist the growth and development of your baby. It is the most successful and natural remedy for rashes and spots in newborns. Applying a few drops of breast milk to the affected area cures it completely without any negative reactions. 

2.Coconut Oil
Coconut oil has antimicrobial and antifungal properties. It is used especially for diaper rashes. Apply some coconut oil before putting the diaper on your baby. It acts as a lubricant and restricts direct contact with the baby body. In the case of fungal rashes, you can add a few drops of coconut oil in lukewarm water while bathing your baby.

3.Banana peels
Banana peels are considered as one of the great remedies for skin spot and related allergies. Refrigerate the banana peels for about an hour or so. Apply the refrigerated peels to the affected area. Banana peels also clearing the skin and make the baby fresh and moisturized. 

4.Neem
Neem has antiseptic effects. Grind the neem leaves with a little water in a grinder to make a paste and apply the paste on the corresponding areas for relief from the itching and spots. This also helps babies from mosquitos. 

5.Oatmeal
Oatmeal should be finely powdered and can be put into the bathtub which contains lukewarm water. You can see a milky white color while mixing. This allows great relief from the skin spots, mainly prickly heat rashes. 

6.Sandalwood/ Chandan: Sandalwood powder is mixed with sufficient water to form a thick paste, which is then applied to the affected area for an instant cooling effect.

7.Yoghurt
The immune system of babies are delicate and can respond to even the smallest allergens. This can cause inflammation underneath your skin. Skin spots are caused due to break down of the immune system. The bacteria which exist in the yogurt can help improve the immune system of newborns. 

8.Aloe vera
People have used Aloe vera for thousands of years for healing and softening the skin. It contains antimicrobials, anti-inflammatory, and emollient properties. Many creams are available, but it may also contain artificial compounds that may negatively influence your baby’s sensitive skin. A better option would be to extract the aloe vera gel from the leaves directly. If not available at home, you can purchase it from any leading supermarket.

9.Cucumber
Cucumber is a hydrating fruit rich in micronutrients and phytochemicals. They include anti-inflammatory properties that help in reducing the skin rash on the face. They have very gentle action even on the most sensitive skin, thus most parents prefer it. You can apply cucumber paste or cucumbers that can be mixed with oatmeal to form a thick paste, which can be applied to the affected area which helps to reduce the rash symptoms.

10.Olive oil
Olive oil filled with oleic acids, healthy fats, phenolic antioxidants, and squalene. Massaging with olive oil yields to make your baby's bone and muscles strong along with maintaining your baby's skin tone.  Olive oil contains an element named oleocanthal which supports bringing relief to any swelling of the skin. Olive oil contains Vitamin E which supports the process of skin resumption and healing.

Note: Its always better to use home remedies than applying chemically made creams. However, the products used in home remedies may have an allergic impact on babies. As a precaution always try a small patch test on your baby's arm before applying on his/her face.
